One of the biggest advantages of setting up a company in Dubai is that your trade license gives you the right to live there. The investor visa is the residency permit you get as a company owner, and it's one of the most straightforward visas the UAE offers.
What is the Dubai investor visa?
The investor visa is a UAE residency visa issued to owners and partners of registered companies in Dubai. It comes with 2 or 3-year validity (depending on your setup), is renewable, and gives you the right to live, work, and travel freely from the UAE. It's not a tourist visa, it's full legal residency tied to your business.

Who qualifies? Any owner or partner of a legally registered company in Dubai, whether free zone or mainland, can apply. There is no minimum investment amount for the standard investor visa tied to a trade license. There is also a separate 10-year Golden Visa for investors meeting specific criteria (real estate investment of AED 2M+, or certain business investment thresholds), but that's a different product.
Step-by-step: how to get your investor visa Step 1: Your company must be registered first. The visa process starts after your trade license is issued.
Step 2: Entry permit. An entry permit is issued, allowing you to enter Dubai for the visa process. If you're already in the UAE, you'll get a status change instead.
Step 3: Medical test. A standard medical test at an approved health centre. Checks for communicable diseases, takes about 1–2 hours. Cost: AED 300–700.
Step 4: Emirates ID biometrics. Visit a Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship service centre to register your fingerprints and photo. This produces your national UAE ID card.
Step 5: Visa stamping. Your investor visa is stamped into your passport. You are now an official UAE resident.
Step 6: Emirates ID collection. Your Emirates ID card is usually ready within 5–10 working days of biometric registration.

Medical test | Same day |
Emirates ID biometrics | Same day |
